Indulge yourselves...

2.27.2011

Not only do we love Olivia Palermo in this shoot...but we especially love Tibi's spring line. It is cute, flattering and oh so ladylike. The colors, the longer cuts, and the complimenting waist lines make this line something admired by all ages. All these pieces can be seen at tibi.com...

african vibes.

2.24.2011

fashion is transatlantic. regardless of the physical borders, or the cultural barriers, it is a language that is shared world-wide. countries like Italy and France are known as fashion capitals. however, there are many fashion empires that fly under the radar, like Africa. although African's mode of dress may not be common ground in well established fashion empires, it is slowly climbing to gain a reputation of its own. Suno, a New York based, but Kenya made designer, is an example of breaking down the African fashion barrier. By using kanga and kitenge as the fabrics for their designs, Suno creates wearable clothing, with authentic African aesthetics…

spring/summer 2011

resort 2011

this past summer one of us traveled to tanzania, and experienced the cultural differences through their everyday fashions. women were beautifully decorated in kangas, wrapping their bodies and heads. however, the best discovery were the mamas of the village and their beautiful, authentic, and unique handmade bags. using recycled rice bags and kitenge, the women hand stitch each bag to perfection.  coming back with at least four, they represent a small piece of what is soon to enter into the world of fashion (or accessories) from the blooming African style of dress…

2.16.2011

as we continue to watch the ny fashion week shows, we can't help but notice all of the different leggings, leg warmers, and tights. in some cases the leg accessories act as just minor details to the overall outfit, but, in some of the RTW looks, they pull the entire creation together. we have always found tights to be a confusing detail. we never know when to go bare legged, or when to throw on a pair of pattern tights. our collection's are slowly expanding, and now includes our favorite no name black polka dot sheer tights. leggings however are a different story. it would be incorrect for us to say that we go more than two days without throwing on a pair of our madewell or LF bought leggings. once again we see them on the fall 2011 runway, but this time in a different fashion (take a peek below). legwarmers are something that we can't say we wear often. maybe we should reconsider…

Jackie O anyone?

It is not just a coincidence that some of the most iconic people in Fashion history have been classic, elegant characters. The way of a woman is meant to be graceful, beautiful, powerful, and innocent. How did modern Fashion become so grungy and revealing? We may never know...but what we do know is that true beauty rests in the delicate charm, and loveliness of elegant clothing. Does Jackie O ring a bell?

Grammys Glam...

2.15.2011

The Grammys were by far the most glammed out award show thus far in 2011. The classic beautiful long dresses, the shiny metallics, the geometric shapes, and the bold blues were to die for. Chi chi has never seen this many celebs on the best dressed list...giving us hope that this is going to be a very trendy year.

textures and blue. the two have been present in almost every collection seen so far, either together, or separately, they are definitely show stoppers. as seen in collections like rag and bone and suno, the two have made for genuinely beautiful and genius pieces. ny fashion week continues to leave us in awe. just throw it all on together, why not…

and so it begins...

2.10.2011

new york fashion week has arrived and the fall 2011 clothing is slowly being revealed. based on today's shows, it looks as though we will be seeing lots of neutral colors; black, gray, brown, etc. however, bcbg max azria and some others, managed to slip some pops of color in to their lines. as of now, shapes are looking asymmetrical and simple in their construction, paired with layering, with the exception of the risks taken with mixing patterns and textures. all together everything looks tailored. here are some peeks at what today's shows displayed. cant wait to see what tomorrow brings about….

Kirsten Dunst looks absolutely flawless in this Band of Outsiders spring look book. I love the simplicity of the shoot and the effortlessness of the outfits. The neutral colors make the shoot elegant, sweet as well as innocent and the geometric shapes make it high fashion all at the same time. Very well done Band of Outsiders...and way to go Kirsten!

Lacquer up ladies...

2.07.2011

Nail polish has the power to pull a whole outfit together...some even say the cleanliness of ones nails is a testament to their whole person. Chanel's BEAUTIFUL line of spring nail polish is subtle and clean but oh so elegant. $25 each...these tiny pops of pastel colors are worth every penny.
